Bon Appetit Bowls

A beautiful late summer outing with family and a visiting family friend brought us to Springfield Manor Winery, where the scenery, wine, and food trucks created the perfect backdrop for an afternoon together. Naturally, when I spotted cheesecake on the menu at Bon Appetit Bowls’ food truck, I couldn’t resist giving it a try.

The flavor on offer was an Orange Creamsicle Cheesecake — a playful, nostalgic twist that immediately piqued my interest. Served in a simple black tray with whipped cream and fresh strawberries, the presentation wasn’t fancy, but the bright orange filling made it stand out.

At first bite, I was pleasantly surprised. For being a premade cheesecake, this was certainly one of the more enjoyable ones I’ve come across. The filling was exceptionally creamy, with a smooth texture that melted into the palate. The orange flavor was balanced — refreshing and vibrant without being overly sweet — and it captured that classic creamsicle essence perfectly.

The crust, however, told a different story. Likely due to being previously frozen and defrosted, it was a bit on the soggy side, which took away from the overall bite. That said, it’s completely understandable for a food truck setting where refrigeration and transport come into play. In fact, it left me curious just how fantastic this cheesecake must be when it’s fresh-baked and served at peak form — because the flavors alone certainly had the potential to shine at an even higher level.

At $9, it’s reasonably priced for a winery outing and certainly enough to satisfy a sweet tooth while sipping a glass of wine. Though not a “must-try” cheesecake, it’s a solid 7/10 and an option I’d happily revisit if I came across it again.

For a premade cheesecake to deliver this much flavor and enjoyment is commendable — sometimes, even without the bells and whistles, a simple concept done well can bring a smile to the table.
