Pete’s Steak Shop

Granting a meager score of 2 out of 10 to Pete’s Steak Shop’s cheesecake is regrettable, but the dessert truly left much to be desired. As I embarked on my beach trip, looking forward to a relaxed and carefree time, I was disappointed by the lackluster taste of the cheesecake.
While I had higher expectations from a family-owned restaurant that has been around since the 70s and specializes in cheesesteaks, the cheesecake failed to impress. The taste was disappointingly bland and unremarkable, leaving little to savor.
I didn’t take a photo of their cheesecake during my visit, since this review was written before the site went live. However, I had an AI generate this image of a cheesecake in a trashcan, which I thought was a fitting visual metaphor for the dessert’s disappointing taste.
Unfortunately, the cheesecake’s lack of flavor was not the only downside. Despite being reasonably priced at $6.49, the dessert’s quality simply did not justify the purchase.
On the bright side, I will say that the plating was functional, served in a clear plastic container, which is suitable for take-out. Moreover, the restaurant is known for its fantastic cheesesteaks, so I recommend sticking to those and skipping the cheesecake.
Overall, my experience with Pete’s Steak Shop’s cheesecake was a letdown. However, I remain hopeful that the restaurant’s other offerings will more than make up for it the next time I visit. Additionally, I plan to rerate their cheesecake to ensure that my initial rating was accurate.

Memories Charcoal House

Memories Charcoal House may have an inviting name, but unfortunately, the memory of their cheesecake is one I wish I could erase. From the moment it was served, disappointment set in. Plated in a plain white circular glass bowl that was clearly too small for the slice, the presentation lacked any sense of effort or appeal. This was not a cheesecake that inspired excitement.
Sadly, the issues didn’t end with the plating. The crust was a disaster—crumbly, flavorless, and lacking the structure needed to support the filling. A well-made crust can elevate a cheesecake, but this one did the exact opposite. The filling, while marginally better, was utterly uninspiring—bland, forgettable, and unable to compensate for the crust’s failure.
If there was any flavor to be found, it came solely from the whipped cream, and that is never a good sign. A cheesecake should stand on its own, with the whipped cream serving as a complement, not the main source of enjoyment. Rarely do I encounter a cheesecake that I take one bite of and immediately don’t want another, but that was the case here.
At $7.90, this cheesecake failed on nearly every level, earning it a dismal 2/10 rating. It now joins Pete’s Steakhouse in the unfortunate category of worst of the worst.
If you’re craving cheesecake, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. Check out my previous reviews on Cheesecake with Jake for better options—because this is one dessert you should definitely pass on.
