Connolly’s

Holiday trips have a way of setting the stage for unforgettable meals, and this one delivered in every possible way. While visiting New York City for Christmas in the City and a Broadway show, we stopped into Connolly’s on 45th to warm up, grab dinner, and soak in the festive atmosphere. Between the glow of holiday décor, the hum of conversation, and classic Christmas music filling the room, it already felt like the right place to end the evening on a sweet note.

Naturally, we asked for the dessert menu — and one item stood out immediately: Irish Cream Cheesecake.

Described as their award-winning cheesecake flavored generously with Baileys Irish Cream and a touch of Jameson Irish Whiskey, it came with a playful promise of being “magically delicious.” A quick joke with our waitress about which awards it had won (“all of them,” she laughed) set the tone — high expectations, but with a sense of fun. Having never tried a Jameson-forward cheesecake before, I was hopeful… and then completely blown away.

From the moment it arrived, this slice commanded attention. Thick, tall, and confidently plated, it featured a beautifully golden top, a substantial crust, and just enough garnish to let the cheesecake speak for itself. No over-the-top theatrics — just a well-executed presentation that matched the cozy, classic pub setting.

The first bite was unforgettable.

The crust was exceptional — thick, flavorful, and sturdy, with a deep, almost toasted richness that anchored every forkful. But the true crown jewel was the filling. Luxuriously creamy and impossibly smooth, it delivered wave after wave of flavor. The Baileys brought a soft sweetness and warmth, while the Jameson added depth and a subtle spice — almost cinnamon-like on the finish — that lingered just long enough to make you crave the next bite.

This cheesecake struck a rare balance: bold yet refined, indulgent without being heavy, and flavorful without overpowering the classic cheesecake base. Even though it was shared at the table, every single person agreed — we could have easily ordered another slice. It’s the kind of dessert that doesn’t just satisfy; it tempts you to keep going.

At $12, this cheesecake is an absolute steal considering the portion size, quality, and experience. Between the festive NYC setting, attentive service, and a dessert that ranks among the very best I’ve had, this was a standout moment of the trip.

Verdict:
Connolly’s Irish Cream Cheesecake is not just holiday-worthy — it’s elite. A rich, creamy, whiskey-kissed masterpiece with one of the best crusts I’ve encountered, this slice earns a perfect 10/10 and sets the bar incredibly high. If you find yourself near Times Square with room for dessert, don’t think twice — this is one you’ll be thinking about long after the curtain falls.
