Oscar’s Alehouse

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about Oscar’s Alehouse in Frederick, it’s this: they don’t miss. Whether it’s their entrées, their appetizers, or their craft beer selection, every visit leaves me impressed — and their house-baked original cheesecake continues that streak.

Served on a clean, modern plate with a swoop of raspberry sauce for flair, the presentation was simple yet thoughtful. That bright red ribbon across the plate added just enough personality without overpowering the slice itself — a small gesture that shows the kitchen cares about doing things the right way.

And the slice?
A textbook example of why the classics never go out of style.

The filling was beautifully creamy, smooth, and balanced — not overly sweet, not too dense, and with that subtle tang you hope for in a traditional New York–style cheesecake. Every bite melted cleanly on the palate, leaving you going right back in for another forkful.

The crust, while sturdy and well-structured, was the only part that didn’t wow me. It held up nicely and provided enough bite, but the flavor could’ve used just a touch more richness or seasoning to fully match the filling’s standout quality. Still, it did its job — and did it well.

For $8, this slice is an absolute steal. Between the in-house baking, the generous portion, the creamy texture, and the thoughtful presentation, Oscar’s delivers a cheesecake that punches well above its price point. It’s the kind of dessert you feel good about ordering — and even better about finishing.

Verdict:

A classic, confident house-baked cheesecake with a silky filling and charming raspberry flair. At only $8, this is one of Frederick’s best-value slices and a must-try for cheesecake lovers.
