After a family celebration, we decided to cap off our day with a visit to Ted’s Bulletin in Gaithersburg. Known for its hearty comfort food and scratch-made dishes, it seemed only right to finish our already stellar lunch with a slice of their seasonal cheesecake.
When it arrived, the first thing that caught my eye was the color. The golden-brown top of the New York-style cheesecake contrasted beautifully with the vibrant peach topping, making for an inviting presentation—though I’ll admit, the plating itself felt a little rushed. The slice was served on a large plate with the peach compote simply spooned over top, almost like it was in a hurry to get to the table. A dessert this good deserves just a touch more presentation love.
That said, any concerns about looks melted away after the first bite. This was a thick, unapologetically rich slice—the kind that has weight to it when you lift your fork—yet somehow the texture stayed light and creamy enough to keep you going back for more. The filling carried that classic New York-style tang, with a mellow sweetness that paired beautifully with the peaches.
The crust was a standout on its own—dense, buttery, and flavorful, with the kind of crumb that holds together until the very last bite. In fact, as you worked your way through the slice, the crust seemed to get even thicker and more indulgent toward the base, making those final forkfuls especially satisfying.
The peach topping brought a bright pop of fruitiness to each bite, though I’ll admit, I would have loved to see it incorporated a little more artfully. Still, its juicy sweetness played well with the creamy filling and hearty crust, giving each mouthful a balance of texture and flavor.
One note for future diners: while the menu listed the cheesecake at $8, my bill reflected a $9 charge. Not a dealbreaker, but worth being aware of.
Verdict: Ted’s seasonal cheesecake is a dessert worth making room for, no matter the flavor of the month. If peaches aren’t your thing, you can be confident their New York-style base will shine with whatever topping is in season. A near-perfect slice that only left me wishing the plating matched the flavor.
