On a picture-perfect Sunday afternoon, our family set out to celebrate Mother’s Day at Trivinia Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar in Leesburg, Virginia. The atmosphere was lively and filled with anticipation as we waited to be seated—clearly, we weren’t the only ones hoping to enjoy something special that day.
A heartfelt shout-out goes to our waitress, who, in a true act of dedication, came in on her day off to help support the busy team. Her warmth and attentiveness didn’t go unnoticed and added a personal touch to an already enjoyable outing.
After making a serious dent in our entrées—massive portions that more than justified their price—we knew dessert was a must. Naturally, I had my eyes on the cheesecake.
What arrived was a Lemon Ricotta Cheesecake presented simply but elegantly on a rounded-edge square plate, topped with a generous heap of whole blueberries and a light dusting of powdered sugar. While not particularly thick, the slice was substantial and satisfying in size.
The first bite revealed its uniqueness. The ricotta base delivered a smooth, airy filling with a lightly textured finish—an unmistakable contrast to the more common dense New York-style. The lemon zest added a welcome brightness, pairing well with the subtle tang of the blueberry compote, which I only wish had been more abundant. The graham cracker crust was well-formed and added just enough structure to round out each bite.
This cheesecake didn’t lean on extravagance—it was quietly elegant, letting its more refined ricotta profile shine. A touch more sweetness or a dollop of whipped cream might have pushed the flavor further, but as it stands, it’s a distinctive offering that’s sure to satisfy.
Happy (belated) Mother’s Day to all the incredible moms out there. This one was enjoyed in your honor.
