InJapan Japanese Steak, Seafood & Sushi

After a sunny day on the golf course, a few coworkers and I headed to InJapan in Easton, MD to celebrate my birthday. The plan was dinner, dessert, and then some friendly competition at the bowling alley next door. The energy inside the restaurant was lively, with our hibachi chef putting on a great show—flames, laughs, and a few unforgettable tricks.

The food? Excellent. From fresh sushi rolls to perfectly grilled hibachi entrees, everything hit the mark. So naturally, I was excited to cap off the evening with a slice of cheesecake.

Visually, it looked festive and fun. A classic New York-style cheesecake slice, topped with chocolate drizzle, rosettes of whipped cream, and colorful sprinkles that added a touch of birthday cheer. The filling had a dense, traditional texture with a mild vanilla flavor. It was enjoyable enough, but not quite memorable—missing that signature richness or balance of sweetness that pushes a cheesecake to the next level.

The crust held up well and paired nicely with the filling, but didn’t stand out in any particular way. Looking back, I noticed that for just a dollar more, they offered a fried cheesecake—a more adventurous option that may have offered the bold finish I was hoping for.

At $8, this slice won’t break the bank and will satisfy a basic sweet craving, but with how strong the rest of the meal was, the cheesecake felt like the one course that didn’t rise to the same level.

InJapan is still well worth the visit for a fun night out. Come for the food, stay for the hibachi show, and maybe take a gamble on the fried cheesecake next time.
