Upon ordering the homemade New York cheesecake, expectations were naturally high, especially given that this restaurant had recently hosted Gordon Ramsay. Unfortunately, the dessert did not live up to those expectations.
The crust was notably hard—so much so that tapping it with a fork produced an audible knock. This, combined with a lack of flavor and a slightly burnt aftertaste, made for a disappointing base.
The filling itself failed to redeem the dish. It lacked the richness and depth expected from a well-crafted New York cheesecake, leaving little to be desired in terms of taste. Interestingly, I overheard a staff member mention that “the cheesecake doesn’t look like his,” presumably referring to Gordon Ramsay’s version, further hinting at inconsistency in execution.
The only redeeming qualities of this dessert were its reasonable $10 price tag and the fresh blueberry compote, which added a welcome touch of sweetness.
As a long-time fan of Gordon Ramsay, I had hoped this would be another standout cheesecake. However, it ultimately fell into the category of forgettable. That said, Callahan’s recent remodel is impressive, and their new farm-to-table menu and fresh seafood offerings are still worth exploring.
