I figured in honor of the blog going live, I should go out and try a new cheesecake. Unfortunately, it was a letdown. Overall, the atmosphere of Brews & Barrels is super chill, cozy, and rustic. The staff was great, and they were having a trivia night, so of course, we partook in that.
When the cheesecake finally arrived, I was excited as this was my first review on the new site. One bite in, I knew it was going to be a low scorer, but I kept hoping with each bite that something would change my opinion. However, it never happened.
This was definitely not a melt-in-your-mouth cheesecake. It was just a regular plain Jane that gave the impression of being straight from the fridge as if it was store-bought (coming soon we will be rating store-bought cheesecakes, so stay tuned for that).
The plating of this dessert was decent, although it lacked a bit of finesse. They tried to elevate the presentation by adding a strawberry sauce, which was applied in a haphazard manner as seen in the picture. A small dollop of whipped cream was also added for an extra touch.
Overall, I would not tell someone they absolutely need to try the cheesecake, but I would recommend Brews & Barrels for a fun night out.
